Paint Coagulation

Modern paint coagulation, tailor-made for spraying equipment with continuous sludge extraction

State of technology with paint spray booth water systems and spray lines today is the continuous extraction of sludge from the systems. Again, for a proper function of these units paint coagulation is of vital importance. Depending on the design of the equipment, the coagulants may have to meet high demands. The paints have to be detackified instantly, that is to say within seconds, and in most of the applications the coagulated paint is to float completely ( > 90 %). This is not always easy with richly pigmented paints with a high specific density ( > 1,2 ). Likewise, it may present a problem to make light paints with a specific density of < 1,0 settle on the bottom.

In order to meet all these requirements, we specialise in the production of coagulants with a neutral pH value, following the adsorption principle and allowing a continuous sludge extraction.

In the following we have listed our coagulants together with auxiliary materials, like defoamers and biocides, and include a brief description on where they are used. For a reliable recommendation on which product is to be selected, we shall run tests at our laboratory. This is in particular necessary with waterborne paints which may show quite a different behaviour as solvent based materials. For our lab. tests we need paint samples of about 200 grams.

Product Line

From the great variety of our products that meet the demanding needs of paint coagulation and flocculation, we would like to particularly feature the following:

COLORFLOC A 695 OE is a multi-component product for the split-up, detackification and flocculation of waterborne coatings in paint spray booth water systems.

COLORFLOC A 700 OE allows a very good split-up and detackification of paint solids. In particular where 2 component hydro soft materials are used, the water walls will be kept remarkably clean.

COLORFLOC W-LA4 and W-LA4ME (ME indicates "with defoamer"). These are highly efficient coagulants and flocculants for all water borne systems, exception: epoxies.

Both products perform very well in a mixed application of solvent and water borne lacquers. You have an excellent ratio of pricing to performance.

COLORFLOC W-LA5 is an new product for water based lacquers which are particularly hard to split. There is a positive effect on formation of foam so that less defoamer is required.

POLYSORB 125 and POLYSORB 125C are new products for solvent and water based lacquers, also in mixed operation. Advantages: Good distribution within the water, high effectiveness together with outstanding flotation power, in particular with water based lacquers.

POLYSORB 127, POLYSORB 127C and POLYSORB 127CC are fluid (thin) modifications of the POLYSORB 125 line. In particular, POLYSORB 127CC offers high reactivity with very sticky paints. Excellent price-performance-comparison.

POLYSORB 140 and 140CE are highly concentrated coagulants to be used for almost all solvent paints. They allow a spontaneous and complete detackification and are also most suitable for waterborne paints (epoxy resins) as well as for a mixed application of waterborne/solvent based materials. We should particularly mention the excellent price-benefit structure.

POLYSORB 140CE-C is a development of POLYSORB 140CE. The speed of detackification was in particular improved so that almost all paints can be detackified. In particular with very sticky lacquers, like polyester, various clear coats, high solids and others the advantages are obvious.

POLYSORB 148C is recommended for a mixed application of solvent based paints with diverse features. The product minimizes the formation of foam should accidentally an over-dosing occur. With very heavy paints the flotation is extremely good, and the dewatering of the paint sludge is accelerated.
